ANAESTHESIOLOGY

The Department of Anaesthesia takes intense efforts to provide optimum clinical care to the patient. The services of Anesthetists are available round the clock for all planned and emergency surgeries and procedures.

All operation theatres are equipped with modern Anaesthesia machines, Anaesthesia equipments, multipara monitors,central oxygen supply,infusion pumps,for safe administration of general and regional anesthesia.

All modern and safer drugs required for delivery of Anaesthesia are available for patients care. The monitors include electrocardiograph, pulse oximeters monitors.

All operation thetares are equipped with Infusion pumps which help deliver the exact rate and amount of drugs to patients during the surgical procedure. We use both general and regional anaesthetic techniques or in combination. Regional Anaesthesia is provided by single shot or catheter techniques and is provided by using the latest in block placement techniques.

The department provides Anaesthesia services primarily to major and minor Operation Theatres which accommodate surgeries like, Orthopaedic, Laparoscopic and Abdominal surgeries, Oncosurgery, Urosurgery, Gynecological, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Facio Maxillary Surgery.

Pre-operative assessment:

All patients are evaluated extensively prior to the administration of anesthesia,The Anaesthesia plan and the risks involved are explained to the patient

Administration of Anaesthesia:

The anesthesia technique is planned for each patient depending on the surgical procedure, the condition of the patient, and the availability of drugs.

Several Anaesthetic techniques are offered:

For general anesthesia, modern anesthetic agents with minimal side effects are used.

  • Regional anesthetic techniques performed include spinal, epidural, and caudal anesthesia, as well as nerve blocks.
  • Monitored anesthesia care is used for patients undergoing surgery under local Anaesthesia.
  • Each patient is monitored continuously during the procedure.
Post Anaesthesia care:

All patients who undergo surgery,Care is taken to provide adequate post-operative pain relief to every patient. Those who need more intense monitoring for a longer period of time are shifted to the critical care unit for further management.

Post-operative pain management:

Acute Pain Service is provided for acute and immediate post-operative pain management of admitted patients.
