A paediatric ENT or paediatric otolaryngologist treats any ear, nose, or throat-related issue affecting a child’s health. They provide surgical and complex medical treatment for children with ear, nose, and throat issues. Paediatric ENT uses equipment designed especially for children. A paediatric otolaryngologist performs a variety of diagnostics and screening tests in general, such as:

  • General health tests
  • Biopsies
  • Hearing and speech evaluation
  • GERD tests
  • Steep studies, including polysomnogram
  • Scope tests, which include laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, and otoscopy

A paediatric ENT specialist at Sahyadri Hospital deals with asthma, allergies, sinus, tonsil infections, and paediatric ear infections among children, which are well treated and diagnosed with the various surgical and medical facilities available in the hospital. The specialist first evaluates the patient’s medical condition, history, and symptoms. After understanding the problem, s/he educates the parents about their child’s disorder. Further, s/he performs different exams relating to ear, nose, head, neck, throat, hearing, and speech screening to determine the root cause. According to the report, the doctor gets, s/he suggests treatment or, if necessary, performs surgical procedures like myringotomy, tonsillectomy, etc.

The following are the conditions when you can see a pediatric ENT:

  • Ear condition: If your child has an ear problem, such as hearing loss, ear infection, tinnitus, balance disorder, benign growth, cholesteatoma, or congenital disorders, please inform us.
  • Nose condition: When the child is suffering from a chronic nose bleed, sinusitis, nasal polyps, deviated septum, loss of smell, nasal obstruction, etc.

Speech Clinics carry out speech therapy, which is initiated to improve communication through language intervention activities and articulation therapy. In adults, speech disorders may develop due to injuries, illnesses, or speech impairments. Speech therapy treats language and speech disorders, such as fluency, articulation, receptive, resonance, expressive, and cognitive-communication disorders. They also help in treating dysarthria and aphasia. Speech disorders may improve naturally with age but sometimes may need the help of an expert to rectify the disorder, which requires long-term therapy and maintenance.
