Women cancer centre

Cancer, be it in any part of the body, can be threatening. However, it is a fact that the majority of women worldwide are being affected by breast cancer.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO), breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in 2020, with an estimated 2.3 million new cases (11.7%), followed by lung (11.4%), colon (10%), prostate (7.3%) and stomach (5.6%) cancers. Breast cancer is also one of the primary reasons for cancer deaths among women worldwide.

Having stated the above report and overlooking the severity, it does not mean that breast cancer is life-threatening. Instead, breast cancer is one such exception of cancer if regularly examined can be prevented or diagnosed at a very initial stage.

Sahyadri Hospital has taken a revolutionary initiative in women’s cancer diagnosis, particularly by establishing the Well Women’s Clinic. It is managed with the collaborative effort of the women specialists in the Oncology department.

Every Tuesday afternoon, a breast examination clinic is set up. The hospital also provides Mammography and PAP screening facilities.

Counseling centres are also set up that teach and make women aware of the management and prevention of breast cancer. Women coming to the hospital for regular breast check-ups can also avail of counseling sessions from a trained psychologist.

Paediatric Cancer Department

Diagnostic & Therapeutic Single balloon Enteroscopy (for the disease of small intestine-bleeding tumour) is also our core area of diagnosis in the gastroenterology department.
